My Beautiful Kakamega! The Crying Stone of Ilesi
Right from branching off from Nairobi-Kisumu highway one cannot avoid being mesmerized by the beautiful and amazing sceneries along the Kakamega -Malava road. Beautiful land? NO! Beautiful would be an understatement when it comes to describing this land. It is just heart-melting. Lovely!
One of the spectacular sceneries in this land is the The Crying Stone of Ilesi. For anyone at the foot of this phenomenon, the most striking feature is that it resembles a gowned figure, perpetually in tears flowing from 'head to toe' — an image spiced-up by myth and folkfore. To any visitor, the stone is just another tourist attraction site, but for tourism enthusiasts, the story behind this amazing feature, as well as the lives of Isukha poeple who live at its base, is not just beautiful but exciting to listen to.
